Welcome to English 10 LPS
Awareness and Ethics in Law and Public Safety is a college preparatory grade 10 English course integrated with the CTE Public Services Standards and is intended to increase and deepen the knowledge for English-Language Arts through the lens of a potential applicant in the law and public safety field. Through the integration of reading, writing, collaboration, and speaking students will research and gain awareness of the complex nature of law and public safety professions in order to be prepared to enter their chosen field through practice of real-world application. Through research of legal cases and through collaborative discussion, students will deepen their knowledge of the legal system and its applications to their chosen fields in Law and Public Safety as well as the legal and ethical ramifications for the public they will be serving. Students will also develop an understanding of the causes and effects of the physical and
psychological demands on the person in their desired profession through reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to assess their individual limits and areas of personal growth. The course culminates with an enhanced awareness of the ethical and professional issues involved in law and public service fields that empower students to successfully navigate through those sectors and inform others of their findings as a service to the public.
